Text Box: Design and Operation
of Snow-Nabstedt 5000 series Transmissions
Text Box: These single speed transmissions consist of a planetary set up, driven by a sun gear. There are two reaction brake bands within the housings. One engages the forward position and the other engages the opposite reverse direction. When either one is clamped down by the force of the cam, forward or reverse will then be engaged.

The unique dual brake band design allows for immediate shift on the fly direction control from forward to reverse, even under a full load, since the input and output shaft gearing is always in constant mesh with each other.

The rugged design provides for a prolonged life even in the harshest
applications.
Text Box: The cross shaft comes
standard with a keyway on both sides of the transmission. Allowing for easy mounting of a shifting lever to either side of the unit.
Text Box: Output shaft with integral planetary gear carrier,
includes pinions on
hardened studs with the most durable needle
bearings available.
Text Box: Precision machined input shaft drives the sun gear.
Text Box: The iron gear drum in conjunction with the planetary gear set
provides a very highly efficient gear reduction.
Text Box: The brake band assemblies with non-metallic, non-asbestos linings allow for unlimited shift on the fly direction
control throughout the long life span of the bands and linings.
